Qatar Airways boosts Miami flights just in time for busy Summer season

With hardly a week left in the month of May, we are fast approaching the busy summer season. As such, Doha-based Qatar Airways has announced that it will be increasing its frequency of flights between its Doha hub and Miami, Florida.

Miami Boost

Presently, Qatar Airways flies twice-weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays between Doha’s Hamad International Airport and Miami International Airport. Starting 12th June 2021, the flag carrier of Qatar will fly 3-times-a-week with its Boeing B777 aircraft. The schedule will remain the same as before.

Here is the schedule:

  • Doha-Miami
  • Departure time: 07:50
  • Arrival time: 16:35
  • Flight time: 15 hours and 45 minutes
  • Flight number: QR777
  • Frequency: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
  • Miami-Doha
  • Departure time: 20:05
  • Arrival time: 17:10 (the next day)
  • Flight time: 14 hours and 05 minutes
  • Flight number: QR778
  • Frequency: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

Monopoly on the route

While it is difficult to predict demand in the current circumstances, the summer season does typically represents one of the busier travel periods. The carrier is clearly confident that the demand will be sufficient for the increased frequency.

Additionally, Qatar Airways is the only airline to operate nonstop flights between Doha and Miami. This monopoly gives the carrier a strong and well-recognised presence on the route. Similarly, Qatar Airways Cargo is the only airline that flies airfreight between Qatar and the Sunshine destination.

Qatar Airways’ Boeing B777

Qatar Airways has two variants of Boeing B777 aircrafts in its fleet: the B777-200LR and the B777-300ER. These are, as it proudly describes, ‘the largest twin-engine aircraft’ in its fleet.

Out of the two, the B777-300ER is by far the most preferred option of the airline. It presently has 48 of these in its fleet, compared to just nine examples of the smaller B777-200LR. The airline will be flying the larger B777-300ER aircraft to Miami which feature the signature Qsuite product.

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways recently resumed flights to Mykonos on 14th May 2021 as Greece is now open for tourism.
