Denmark is now open to vaccinated Americans and Britishers

Denmark is now open to fully vaccinated Americans and Britishers. The Scandinavian country reopened its borders on Saturday (5th June 2021).

American and British travellers who have received a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency, which includes the Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech, and Johnson & Johnson shots will now be able to visit Denmark for non-essential purposes. Note that tourists must arrive at least 14 days after they receive their final shot.

From now, fully vaccinated American citizens will not have to do pre-arrival testing or follow isolation protocols, according to VisitDenmark. However, unvaccinated children who are travelling with their parents or guardians will have to get tested.

Katinka Friis, a spokeswoman for VisitDenmark, in a statement to Travel+Leisure, said:

Denmark is very excited to welcome back American travelers. So many new places and experiences around Denmark have been in the works over the last year, and it will be amazing to have the Americans come and explore everything they have been missing out on.

The reopening of Denmark follows several other European countries that are now accepting American citizens, including Greece, Italy, Spain and Croatia. The decision also comes as the European Union (EU) is preparing to reopen its borders to vaccinated international travellers, including from the United States.

In order to facilitate opening borders, the EU has developed a COVID-19 Digital Certificate that will allow travellers to upload proof of a vaccine, proof of a negative COVID-19 test, or proof they contracted the virus and recovered.
