Taj Hotels is a luxury hotel chain and is a subsidiary of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), headquartered at Express Towers, Nariman Point in Mumbai. Incorporated by the founder of the Tata Group, Jamsetji Tata, in 1903, the company is a part of the Tata Group, one of India’s largest business conglomerates. The chain’s 1st hotel was The Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai overlooking the Arabian Sea that opened on 16th December 1903. The brand continues to be one of the most revered and loved hospitality brands with a legacy of over 116 years of impeccable service and genuine warmth. Taj Madikeri Resort and Spa is spread across in a 180-acre rainforest with the hills having more than 200 species of plants including rudraksh trees, cardamom, coffee, wild jasmine and eucalyptus. The resort consists of 63 guest rooms ranging from Superior Cottage to Presidential 3-bedroom Nirvana Suite featuring panaromic views of the surrounding rainforest. 8. Taj Resort and Convention Centre, Goa

With a forested hillside perch and gorgeous Sea views, Taj Resort and Convention Centre, Goa, is situated near Dona Paula in Panaji. It shares neighbourhood with its sister property the Cidade de Goa – IHCL SeleQtions. Majority of the 299 rooms including 17 themed suites offer sweeping views of the bay. Taj Hotel & Convention Centre Goa features an all day dining restaurant BLD located off the main lobby with a beautifully landscaped garden on the north and a vast deck garden on the sea side. The hotel also offers a lounge bar and a Coastal Cuisine specialty restaurant. 7. Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Andamans

Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Andamans occupies 46 acres on the famed Radhanagar Beach at Havelock Island. Fringed by strip of mangroves overlooking the beach, the luxury resort in Andaman is a homage to the secluded Andaman and Nicobar archipelago stretching for 700 Kms from the southern tip of Burma towards the north of Sumatra. The resort consists of 54 luxury villas on stilts under a canopy of Coconut and Palmyra trees. Every villa comes comes with a balcony offering garden or pool views. 6. Taj Aravali Resort and Spa, Udaipur

Positioned on a dramatic landscape, Taj Aravali Resort and Spa is spread across 27 acres, creating an expansive oasis surrounded on all sides by the rugged Aravali Ranges, while staying in close proximity to the city centre and the sublime Fateh Sagar, one of the five major names that make up the city’s sophisticated lake system. The hotel features 176 well-appointed rooms, suites and luxury tents staggered over different levels across an undulating landscape. The property has an all-day diner, a specialty pure vegetarian restaurant, an alfresco grill and bar overlooking the swimming pool and manicured gardens. 5. Taj Rishikesh Resort and Spa, Uttarakhand

Taj Rishikesh Resort and Spa, located at a distance of 30 kilometres from Rishikesh, is spread across 12.5 acres of eco-friendly habitat. Guests can choose from one of the 79 accommodations present at the hotel. 4. Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad

Perched 2,000 feet above the city of Hyderabad is Taj Falaknuma Palace, a hotel with deep and rich heritage. Built in 1894, it is the former palace of the Nizam, rumoured to be the richest man in the world at one time. Guests arrive at Taj Falaknuma Palace in a horse-drawn carriage. 3. Taj Theog Resort and Spa, Shimla

Located at a 75 minutes drive from Shimla, Taj Theog Resort and Spa is surrounded by the mesmerising skylines of the Himalayan range. The hotel offers stunning 180 degree views of the Churdhar, the highest peak in the outer Himalayas. Taj Theog has 99 guest rooms and suites offering a outdoor balcony with views of the surrounding mountains. 2. Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Goa

Spread across 56 acres of landscaped gardens, the Mediterranean-style Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Goa sits along a private beach overlooking the Arabian Sea. 1. The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai

The Taj Mahal Palace opened in Mumbai, then Bombay, in 1903, giving birth to the country’s first harbour landmark. Strategically located in Mumbai’s prime historical and commercial hub, The Taj Mahal Palace is walking distance from Colaba Causeway, known for its touristy tiny roadside shops. I personally do not like Taj Lake Palace that much. I agree that it’s a very unique property and all of that, but the interiors of the hotel are too traditional for my liking.

If I am spending that much money, I would instead go for Oberoi Udaivilas, the Leela Palace or the Raffles without a second thought!

No offence to those who like Taj Lake Palace, but this is just my view on this 🙂
