Vistara to restart flights to Maldives, Indigo adds two new routes to the island paradise

Vistara today announced that it will be resuming flights to Maldives in September while Indigo has announced two new routes to the islands. Maldives has once again been welcoming tourists from India since 15th July following a temporary ban.

Vistara once again heading to Malé

Vistara first announced flights to Maldives back in March as the airline wanted to take advantage of the increased demand as Maldives was one of the few destinations accepting travellers from India back then.

However, like all the airlines, it had to suspend services to the Maldives because of the temporary ban in April due to high caseload of COVID-19 in India. But now, although a bit late, the airline is back. Starting 1st September 2021, Vistara will once again operate 3-weekly flights between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Malé’s Velana International Airport. The flights will run with the following schedule:

  • Mumbai-MalĂ©
  • Departure time: 11:00
  • Arrival time: 13:10
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 40 minutes
  • Flight number: UK271
  • Frequency: Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays
  • MalĂ©-Mumbai
  • Departure time: 14:10
  • Arrival time: 17:25
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 45 minutes
  • Flight number: UK272
  • Frequency: Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays

The Delhi-based carrier will deploy its Airbus A320 aircraft on these flights.

Presently, Indigo, Air India, SpiceJet and GoAir operates flights between the two cities. Air India started operating flights to the Maldives from Mumbai just last month. It’s the same case with SpiceJet.
