Service to Toronto Island will be operated by Air Canada Jazz with a De Havilland Dash 8-400 featuring 78 standard economy class seats in a 2-2 configuration. A complimentary snack and drink will also be provided on these flights.

Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President, Network Planning and Revenue Management, Air Canada, said:

We are pleased to restart our operations at Billy Bishop airport and offer our customers the choice to fly in and out of Toronto Island, which is popular among business travellers for its proximity to the city centre and its ability to connect travellers to our global network through Montreal. Our schedule enables travellers to conveniently fly between Montreal and Toronto Island Airport up to five times per day, linking the two key business and cultural centres as we continue to play our part to reinvigorate Canada’s economy. We look forward to welcoming our customers back on board and expanding our daily service as more traffic returns.

All customers can collect and redeem Aeroplan Points through Canada’s loyalty program when travelling with Air Canada, and eligible customers have access to priority check-in, Maple Leaf Lounges at Canadian airports, priority boarding and other benefits.

These flights are available for booking at aircanada.com, via the Air Canada App, Air Canada’s Contact Centres and travel agencies.

Air Canada offers its passengers complimentary shuttle bus service between downtown and Toronto City Airport. The shuttle brings travellers to and from the west entrance of The Fairmont Royal York Hotel, located at the corner of Front and York streets, directly across from Union Station.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, also known as Toronto Island Airport, is Canada’s ninth-busiest airport and welcomes 2.8 million passengers each year. The airport is also Canada’s sixth-busiest airport that offers passenger service to the United States. Business travellers usually prefer this airport over Toronto Pearson International Airport as this is located very close to the city centre.

Porter Airlines is resuming flights for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began on 8th September 2021. The airline exclusively operates flights from Toronto Island Airport with its fleet of 29 Bombardier Dash-8 aircraft. While Porter Airlines has a far more extensive network from Toronto Island Airport than Air Canada, it will face some competition from Air Canada on the Montreal route.

Meanwhile, Air Canada recently announced resumption of 17 international routes and also inaugurated a new route between Montreal and Cairo. The airline has also launched a simplified solution to upload COVID-19 related travel documents. Air Canada has announced that it will have up to 220 daily flights between Canada and the United States as Canada is reopening to fully vaccinated Americans in August. The airline has also announced two new routes to Florida and increased flights to Mexico and the Dominican Republic from Quebec City and has introduced mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees and new hires.
