Six Senses to open Six Senses The Palm, Dubai in 2024

Luxury hospitality brand Six Senses, a part of Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) has announced that it will open Six Senses The Palm, Dubai in 2024, its first hotel in the United Arab Emirates.

Six Senses The Palm, Dubai will be a LEED-certified hotel with 61 guest rooms and 162 branded residences along a private stretch of beach on Palm Jumeirah’s West Crescent.

Recognizing the significance of coral reefs to the UAE and efforts to preserve them, coral is the main inspiration for the architectural narrative, with the undulating rooflines, silhouettes, and cellular facades resembling its natural form and beauty. This creates outward-looking environments that are shaded and protected from the sun. The guest rooms will offer a high degree of privacy yet maximum visibility through the buildings towards the Gulf and Dubai skyline.

The Majlis is a central part of Emirati life. Community and ceremony will therefore be foremost at Six Senses The Palm, Dubai, enhanced by cultural and social spaces such as restaurants, bars, pool, kids’ club, games room, library, function rooms, and meeting rooms.

At the core of Six Senses The Palm, Dubai will be a 60,000 square foot (5,574 square meter) social and wellness club, offering a longevity clinic, IV lounge, biohacking room, massage circuit pool, squash court, working spaces and Six Senses Spa, which is also inspired by the textured coral reefs under the sea. Careful and considered lighting design will incorporate natural light to create a range of moods and immersive experiences. Biophilic design elements will also encourage natural circadian rhythms throughout the design, be it above, or below ground. Recovery treatments and reconnection programs are key to helping guests, members and residents thrive.

The resort will also feature a central garden. This naturally shaded landscape forms a series of mini jebels (hills), meandering valley paths, and romantic courtyards. As a hub for outdoor activities, it will be accessible via bridges and stepping-stone paths wrapped in native beach planting. The main pools and sun decks are banked by undulating native planting, which flows down to the beach.

Commenting on the announcement and the brand’s foray into the UAE, Neil Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer, Six Senses Hotels and Resorts, said:

SixSenses The Palm, Dubai marks a new milestone for the brand as it enters this remarkable destination. From the bottom of the ocean to the signature rooftop bar, our concept celebrates the natural beauty of the Gulf, the solidarity and hospitality between host and visitors, and the journey that Dubai has been on, with its unique Emirati traditions and bubbling optimism for the future.

The resort will also include 162 branded residences including Penthouses, Royal Penthouses, and duplex Sky Villas. Offering private residences in a resort is becoming a common thing now and Six Senses is taking the same approach in order to maximise the revenue.

The residences will also include 9 five-bedroom beachfront Signature Villas, each offering a garden, infinity pool, and palm-framed views to the beach. Natural ponds and large Wadi boulders will add to the unique sanctuary character of the landscaping, where groves of palms scatter out to the beach and private hammocks can be hung in the shade from the fronds. The residences will respect the natural landscape through color and texture, completed by an understated yet sophisticated material palette of renders, stones, and metals that reflect the marine environment that surrounds the site.

Along with the spacious and landscaped green areas, residents will have access to the hotel’s facilities and full use of various leisure, sports, business, and recreational facilities such as a micro farm, tennis courts, padel courts, and dedicated running tracks.

Rahail Aslam, Founder and CEO, Select Group, which is building the resort, said:

We are delighted to partner with Six Senses to introduce the highly acclaimed brand to the UAE. Six Senses has a distinct proposition with a strong heritage, coupled with its inherent commitment to sustainability and wellness, which we believe is a perfect fit for the Palm Jumeirah community.

Meanwhile, in November 2021, Six Senses announced that it will open its second hotel in Portugal in the capital city of Lisbon.
