KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has said that Indian nationals flying from India to the United Kingdom via the Netherlands will not need a transit Schengen visa to transit through the Netherlands.
No transit visa needed if travelling via the Netherlands
KLM has stated that Indian nationals flying from India to the United Kingdom via the Netherlands will now not need a transit Schengen visa to transit through the Netherlands. The statement from the flag carrier of the Netherlands comes after a week of confusion for Indian travellers after several of them were denied boarding on flights from India to the United Kingdom that had a stopover in an EU (European Union) nation, including the Czech Republic, France, Germany, or Spain.
This means that passengers would not need a transit Schengen visa but only a valid UK visa.
The airline said:
Indian nationals travelling to the United Kingdom do not require a transit/Schengen visa while transiting Amsterdam Schiphol, provided they hold a valid visa for the United Kingdom and comply with all applicable conditions in transit and entry conditions at destination. Passengers are personally responsible to ascertain eligibility.

Passengers flying with Lufthansa or Air France
with a layover in Frankfurt, Munich, or Paris will still need to obtain a transit Schengen visa. This means that KLM now has a small advantage over other European carriers as passengers will tend to fly with them over others as they will not have to obtain a transit Schengen visa when flying with KLM.
Last week, several passengers travelling from India to the United Kingdom on European Union carriers such as Lufthansa, Air France, and KLM via their hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, and Amsterdam, respectively, were denied boarding at the origin in India if they did not have a transit Schengen visa.
This follows the European Union’s decision
(Brexit impact) to require non-EU citizens to
have a valid visa in order to fly to the UK on
transit flights.
