Emirates has announced that it will start selling tickets for Premium Economy Class in June 2022 for flights on 4 routes out of Dubai.
In December 2020, Emirates introduced Premium Economy Class on its Airbus A380s. Presently , only 6 A380s have Premium Economy seats. As a result, the airline could not sell tickets for Premium Economy Class as the routes that these A380s would fly were not fixed. Rather, it just upgraded frequent fliers and passengers or sold upgrades at the time of check-in to Economy Class passengers.
However, this is changing.
Tickets to be on sale from June 2022
Starting 1st June 2022, the new cabin class will be available for purchase on flights to London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Sydney and Christchurch for flights from 1st August 2022. Premium Economy will be available on Christchurch flights from 1st December 2022 when the airline will resume flights to the Kiwi city.
With this, the airline will also unveil its full Premium Economy offering onboard and on ground. Emirates says that its Premium Economy offering is rivalling many airlines’ Business Class offering and passengers can expect a Premium Experience when travelling in the airline’s newest travel class. Also, Emirates is the first and only airline in the Middle East to offer a Premium Economy cabin.
The Emirates Premium Economy Experience

As aforementioned, Premium Economy is available on only 6 Emirates A380s. However, the Dubai-based airline has announced plans to retrofit 67 Airbus A380s and 53 Boeing B777s with Premium Economy cabin as well as latest interiors across other cabins.
Tim Clark, President, Emirates, said:
As with everything we do, Emirates Premium Economy will be exceptional in its class, with minute attention given to every aspect of the customer experience. Customers trading up from Economy will be getting excellent value. Since we first introduced our Premium Economy seats in January 2021, the positive response and demand has been tremendous. We currently have six A380s equipped with this cabin class, which limits our initial deployment, but our intention is to offer this experience to many more markets across our network. This November, we will begin our retrofit programme to install Premium Economy on 67 A380s and 53 Boeing 777s. At the end of the programme, Emirates will have 126 aircraft fitted out with Premium Economy cabins, as well as our latest interiors across other cabins. It is a major investment to ensure our customers continue to have the best experience in the sky.
On a four-class Emirates A380, the Premium Economy cabin is located at the front of the main deck with 56 seats laid out in 2-4-2 configuration. On the Emirates Boeing B777, up to 24 Premium Economy seats will be installed in a dedicated cabin section between Business and Economy.
