Air France today announced flights between the capital of France and the capital of the US state of Colorado.
Denver’s residents now have a new flight to look forward to. Starting 2nd July 2021, Air France will launch a new connection between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Denver International Airport in Colorado.
The airline says that ‘Denver is the perfect gateway to Colorado and the Mountain West with its beautiful National Parks, outdoor recreation, and growing economy’.
This new Paris-Denver service will mark Air France’s first ever flight in and out of Denver according CBS Denver News. It’s reported that the service’s launch is ‘contingent on changes to travel bans currently in effect which do not allow non-essential travel between the United States and Europe’ as a result of the ongoing global health crisis.
Details of the flight
While travel restrictions will need to change, here are the details of the flight if it does go ahead.
Air France’s Denver route is slated to begin from 2nd July 2021 (for now, only scheduled until 29th October 2021) with 3-flights-a-week using Boeing’s B787-9 Dreamliner which can accommodate a total of 279 assented (30 in Business cabin, 21 in Premium Economy and 228 in Economy).

Economic impact on Denver
CBS Denver News further notes that this will be a boost to Denver’s economy. Just this new International service by Air France is expected to create 150 jobs while also generating $12-20 million in economic impact.
Michael Hancock, Mayor of Denver, responded to the new flight by calling it ‘tremendous news’ adding the following in a statement via CBS:
These new flights directly reflect the work we have done to position Denver as a global city. With nonstop service to Paris, Air France is supporting our economic recovery with jobs and an investment in our region’s tourism and hospitality industry.
With the addition of Denver, Air France will further strengthen its United States network. Subject to the easing of travel restrictions, the airline will offer flights to 12 US cities during the 2021 summer season: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco and Washington D.C.
With this new route, Europe will be connected to Denver for the first time non-stop by a SkyTeam member airline.
