American Airlines expands in Spain as the European country opens up

American airlines has announced that it is adding two new flights to the European country. The decision comes after Spain announced that it would reopen to fully vaccinated travellers on 7th June.

More options to the Sun destination

The United States-based carrier already operates daily flights between Miami and Barcelona using Boeing B777 & Dallas-Fort Worth and Madrid using Boeing B787 Dreamliner. Starting 17th June 2021, American will start flying between Madrid & Miami and New York. The airline will deploy a Boeing B777-200 on these daily flights across the pond.

  • Arrival time: 08:10 (the next day)
  • Flight time: 8 hours and 40 minutes
  • Flight number: AA68

  • Madrid-Miami

  • Flight time: 9 hours and 25 minutes
  • Flight number: AA69
  • Frequency: Daily
  • Note that this flight begins from 18th June 2021

Flight schedule of New York-Madrid-New York route:

  • New York JFK-Madrid
  • Departure time: 17:30
  • Arrival time: 06:40 (the next day)
  • Flight time: 7 hours and 10 minutes
  • Flight number: AA94
  • Frequency: Daily
  • Madrid-New York JFK
  • Departure time: 12:30
  • Arrival time: 14:55
  • Flight time: 8 hours and 25 minutes
  • Flight number: AA95
  • Frequency: Daily

American will compete with Iberia Airways on both the routes. These flights will run in codeshare with Finnair, Iberia Airways and British Airways.

American’s Boeing B777-200

American’s B777-200 is configured with seating for 273 in three cabins including Business Class – featuring 37 seats that transform into fully lie-flat beds, Premium Economy – featuring 24 recliner-style seats plus additional legroom, and the Main Cabin Economy Class – featuring 66 Main Cabin Extra seats offering extra legroom and 146 standard Economy Class -style seats.

Meanwhile, American has opened bookings for its brand-new Delhi route from New York.
