These flights will be operated by Star Air’s Embraer E145LR (Long Range) aircraft featuring 50 standard Economy Class seats.
Star Air started operating flights to Jamnagar in August 2021 under RCS (Regional Connectivity Scheme) with E145 aircraft. Then, in May 2023, Jamnagar was the first city to get scheduled Embraer E175 service from Star Air. In July 2023, the airline increased flights on both of its routes to Jamnagar to 5-times-a-week.
Now, it is going daily on both the routes, but with a smaller aircraft. There can be two reasons for it. One can be that daily demand is there on both the routes but not enough to make the economics of flying a 76-seater E175 aircraft work. And the other reason can be that the route may have matured enough by now to make a daily 50-seater E145 service work.
Nanded and Adampur
Star Air is bringing Nanded back on the air map when it launches flights to both Nanded and Adampur on 31st March 2024.
From Nanded, the airline will a operate daily service to Bengaluru and Hindon, with one-stop service to Adampur via Hindon. In addition, the carrier will also operate a 4-weekly service between Ahmedabad and Nanded & a 5-weekly service between Hyderabad and Nanded. Additionally, the airline will also offer a one-stop connection to/from Bhuj to Nanded via Ahmedabad.
All of these flights will be operated by Star Air’s Embraer E175 aircraft, four of which are now part of the airline’s fleet. These aircraft seat 12 passengers in Business cabin and 64 passengers in the Economy cabin.
Nanded is a sacred city for the Sikh religion in the state of Maharashtra. It is situated on the banks of Godavari river and is a border district with Telangana. The city has not had air service after the fall of TruJet and the recent pull out by Air India.
TruJet used to offer flights to Hyderabad while Air India used to fly from Amritsar and Delhi to Nanded. Star Air is going all-in with 23-weekly departures from the very start. This is very big for an airline which has spread its wings very thin over the past years.
