Prayagraj is the hotspot for religious tourism at the moment in India, as the MahaKumbh is happening right now. Airlines have announced an increase in flights to the city to address the growing demand.
IndiGo
IndiGo has been one of the key players in connecting the different regions to Prayagraj (IXD). The airline has now announced that it will operate over 1,65,000 seats to and from Prayagraj, more than double its normal capacity.
To support the growing demand, the airline has added new nonstop flights from Ahmedabad (AMD), Kolkata (CCU) and Jaipur (JAI) in addition to the existing nonstop services from Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Bengaluru (BLR), Hyderabad (HYD), Lucknow (LKO), Raipur (RPR) and Bhubaneswar (BBI).
Additionally, IndiGo will deploy the larger 222- or 232-seater Airbus A321neos on flights to Prayagraj to offer more seats on each flight.
Air India
Air India recently announced that it will operate a daily service between Delhi and Prayagraj. Now, the full-service carrier has announced the addition of a second-daily service from Delhi and a new service from Mumbai starting 1st February 2025.

Akasa Air
Akasa Air has also announced increased flights to Prayagraj. The low-cost carrier will operate “special flights” from four Indian cities in addition to its daily direct services from Mumbai and Delhi. Between 27th January 2025, and 28th February 2025, Akasa Air will operate daily flights connecting Prayagraj with Pune (PNQ), Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru via Delhi.
Additionally, between 28th January 2025, and 26th February 2025, the airline will operate special direct flights connecting Ahmedabad and Bengaluru with Prayagraj.

Air India Express
Air India Express has announced that it has added new flights between Delhi and Varanasi (VNS) and increased frequency on Bengaluru-Varanasi and Hyderabad-Varanasi routes.
SpiceJet and Alliance Air
SpiceJet connects Prayagraj with Jaipur, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi while Alliance Air operates flights to Prayagraj from Delhi, Kolkata, Jabalpur (JLR), Guwahati (GAU), Bilaspur (PAB) and Indore (IDR).
