After a lengthy hiatus, it looks like Emirates is bringing back its iconic Airbus A380 to the United States in June.
Emirates will fly A380 to New York-JFK from 1st June
With Emirates’ latest schedule update, it looks like the airline will be sending their iconic Airbus A380 back to New York’s JFK Airport in June. The Dubai-based airline’s website until recently showed the A380 resuming flights to JFK from 1st July. But they’ve now brought that forward a month. The A380 will be back at JFK from the first day of summer i.e. 1st June 2021.
Emirates currently operates twice-daily flights to New York-JFK. Specifically, the airline will be using the A380 for the following frequency:
- Dubai-New York JFK
- Departure time: 08:30
- Arrival time: 14:25
- Flight time: 13 hours and 55 minutes
- Flight number: EK201
- New York JFK-Dubai
- Departure time: 23:00
- Arrival time: 19:45 (the next day)
- Flight time: 12 hours and 45minutes
- Flight number: EK202
The planned Dubai to New York Airbus A380 service is on a frequency that is currently operated by a Boeing B777-300ER with its ‘game-changing’ first-class product. This was the only US route to ever regularly get Emirates’ new first class. A Boeing B777-300ER will continue to operate Emirates’ second New York service, EK203/204.
As of 1st June 2021, Emirates will have a total of 4 flights landing in New York area:
- Twice-daily from Dubai to New York-JFK, one with the A380 and other with the B777
- Daily nonstop flight from Athens to Newark with the B777
- Daily nonstop flight from Milan to New York-JFK with the B777
Emirates A380 to Los Angeles and Washington
Emirates’ website also shows two other US destinations getting A380 service in summer.
From 1st July 2021, Emirates will fly an Airbus A380 between Dubai and Los Angeles with the following schedule:
- Dubai-Los Angeles
- Departure time: 08:55
- Arrival time: 14:15
- Flight time: 16 hours and 20 minutes
- Flight number: EK215
- Los Angeles-Dubai
- Departure time: 16:40
- Arrival time: 19:30 (the next day)
- Flight time: 15 hours and 50 minutes
- Flight number: EK216
Also from 1st July 2021, the Middle Eastern carrier will start flying the Double Decker to Washington Dulles, with the following schedule:
- Dubai-Washington
- Departure time: 02:20
- Arrival time: 08:40
- Flight time: 14 hours and 20 minutes
- Flight number: EK231
- Washington-Dubai
- Departure time: 10:55
- Arrival time: 08:05 (the next day)
- Flight time: 13 hours and 10 minutes
- Flight number: EK232
Google Flights also shows that Emirates A380 will return to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport from 1st May 2021. Meanwhile, Emirates is also expecting the A380 to return to Australia and New Zealand in late October 2021.
