Finnair to fly to 60+ destinations in Summer 2021 as travel gradually opens

Finnair is confident about a summer travel recovery as the airline has announced that it will fly to over 60 destinations in Summer 2021. With the COVID-19 vaccine rollout at a fast pace in Europe, Finnair is preparing to increase the number of flights to leisure destinations.

In June, Finnair will resume flights to Vilnius, Bodø, Nice, Lisbon, and Reykjavik from its hub at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. More frequencies will be added to Rhodes, Santorini and Chania in Greece, Mallorca, Málaga and Alicante in Spain and Rome, Milan and Venice in Italy.

Resuming flights to United States

As Finnair states that ‘in North America, the vaccine roll-out has progressed well’, it will restart flights to Chicago and Los Angeles in mid-June. The Nordic airline will also increase frequencies on the New York route to upto 3-flights-a-week. All flights to the United States are still subject to United States’ travel guidelines.

Ole Orvér, Chief Commercial Officer, Finnair, said:

We closely follow how travel regulations develop across our markets and have the flexibility to increase flights based on demand, seizing opportunities created when travel restrictions are lifted.

A new AI-powered solution

As the travel guidelines are likely to change in many countries during the course of the summer season, Finnair aims to facilitate travel planning. The airline will introduce a new AI-powered solution for customers to explore available destinations and keep up with the latest travel restrictions in different countries.

Finnair is offering flexible tickets

To offer customers peace of mind for making travel plans, Finnair has a flexible ticket change policy for all bookings made by 31st August 2021. This means that customers can make changes to their travel dates regardless of what type of ticket they purchased.
