Emirates to restart flights to Mauritius as the country reopens to international tourists

Emirates has announced that it will restart flights to Mauritius in less than 1 week time. This comes after Mauritius announced that it will once again accept international travellers from 15th July 2021, which is the same date that Maldives will begin welcoming tourists from India.

Emirates will start operating flights to Mauritius’ Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport once again on the same day as the island-nation will reopen I.e. 15th July 2021. The airline will initially operate twice-weekly flights with Boeing B777-300ER. However, the B777 will make few trips as from 1st August 2021, Emirates will begin sending its flagship Airbus A380 on flights to Mauritius. The schedule for the flight is:

  • Dubai-Mauritius
  • Departure time: 02:35
  • Arrival time: 09:10
  • Flight time: 6 hours and 35 minutes
  • Flight number: EK701
  • Frequency: Thursdays and Saturdays
  • Mauritius-Dubai
  • Departure time: 23:10
  • Arrival time: 05:45 (the next day)
  • Flight time: 6 hours and 35 minutes
  • Flight number: EK704
  • Frequency: Fridays and Sundays

Emirates’ Airbus A380 features 14 First Class suites, 76 lie-flat business class seats and 420 standard economy class seats.

Emirates A380 routes

Emirates’s Airbus A380 returned to the skies a year ago for the first time since the start of the pandemic. It was only flying to London’s Heathrow Airport and Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport then. But now, the Dubai-based airline has added many destinations to the giant of the skies’ network.

In July, the airline will deploy the A380 on 16 routes. These destinations are: New York JFK, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Toronto, Paris, Munich, Vienna, Frankfurt, Moscow, Amman, Cairo, Bahrain, Guangzhou, Zurich, Madrid and Rome.

Emirates recently announced that it will be deploying its Airbus A380 on 1 hour flights to Bahrain and also operate a second daily A380 flight to Jordan in response to strong demand.

In addition to Mauritius, Emirates also operate 28-weekly flights to Maldives and daily flights to Seychelles in the Indian Ocean.

Meanwhile, Emirates recently launched Airport Ease and Airport Ease+ packages in order to simplify arrival and departure procedure at Dubai International Airport (DXB). The airline also launched Emirates Pay and the re-opened its dedicated First Class lounge at DXB.

The airline has resumed flights to Phuket in Thailand and is resuming flights to Nice and Lyon in France and Malta and Larnaca in the Mediterranean. Emirates is also planning to launch flights to Miami in July.
