Austrian Airlines to add an additional weekly frequency to Cancun

Austrian Airlines has announced that it will add an additional weekly frequency in flights to Cancun starting January next year.

Starting 25th January 2022, Austrian Airlines will operate flights between Vienna International Airport and Cancun International Airport 3-times-a-week instead of twice-weekly. The carrier will add a frequency on Tuesdays on top of the already operating frequencies on Thursdays and Sundays. The flights are operating with the following schedule:

  • Vienna-Cancun
  • Departure time: 10:40
  • Arrival time: 17:10
  • Flight time: 12 hours and 30 minutes
  • Flight number: OS95
  • Frequency: Thursdays and Sundays (additional flights on Tuesdays from 25th January 2022)

  • Flight time: 10 hours and 20 minutes
  • Flight number: OS96
  • Frequency: Thursdays and Sundays (additional flights on Tuesdays from 25th January 2022)

Due to the high demand during the Christmas holidays, Austrian Airlines’ frequency to Cancun had already been increased to 10-weekly instead of 7-weekly between 19th December 2021 and 9th January 2022. Flights to Cancun are operated by Boeing B777-200 aircraft, featuring 40 lie-flat business class seats, 24 premium economy seats and 244 standard economy seats.

Austrian says that Cancun being Mexico’s second largest airport, the connection to Cancún also functions as an ideal starting point for onward travel with its partner airlines.

Meanwhile, Canadian low cost carrier Flair Airlines recently added Cancun to its network.
