KLM to launch flights between Amsterdam and Austin

KLM has announced that it will launch much-anticipated flights between Amsterdam and Austin, Texas.

KLM is headed to Austin

Starting 28th March 2022, KLM will operate 3-flights-a-week between Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The flights will run with the following schedule:

  • Amsterdam-Austin
  • Departure time: 12:50
  • Arrival time: 16:05
  • Flight time: 10 hours and 15 minutes
  • Flight number: KL667
  • Frequency: Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays
  • Austin-Amsterdam
  • Departure time: 18:00
  • Arrival time: 10:15 (the next day)
  • Flight time: 9 hours and 15 minutes
  • Flight number: KL668
  • Frequency: Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays

These flights will be operated by Boeing B787-9 Dreamliners featuring 30 lie-flat World Business seats, 48 Economy Comfort seats (extra-legroom Economy seats) and 216 standard Economy Class seats.

Austin is KLM’s second destination in Texas after Houston. Austin is the 19th North American destination to be served by KLM. Austin, the capital of Texas, is known as the ‘Live Music Capital of the World’ and is considered an epicenter of the tech industry due its the high concentration of startups and tech companies. This route was originally scheduled to start in May 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jaqueline Yaft, Chief Executive Officer, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, said:

After originally welcoming KLM to Austin in 2019, AUS is excited to finally launch nonstop service to Amsterdam. Offering direct service to European cities is a huge priority for AUS and this is a milestone we’ve been eager to meet since May of 2020.

KLM passengers flying from Austin can easily connect to over 60 destinations across Europe, Africa and India via Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

Meanwhile, KLM recently increased flights to Newcastle to 4-per-day.
