Air India has announced the addition of Bhuj to its network. Bhuj is one of the first new domestic destinations for the airline after it got privatised.

Bhuj gets new connectivity!

Starting 1st March 2024, Air India will operate a daily service between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Bhuj Airport with the following schedule:

  • Mumbai-Bhuj
  • Departure time: 07:05
  • Arrival time: 08:20
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 15 minutes
  • Flight number: AI601

  • Bhuj-Mumbai
  • Departure time: 08:55
  • Arrival time: 10:10
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 15 minutes
  • Flight number: AI602

These flights will be operated by all-economy Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Bhuj is a new destination for Air India and is one of the first new destinations for the airline since Tata Group took over. Bhuj is the fifth destination for Air India in the state of Gujarat after Jamnagar, Rajkot, Ahmedabad and Vadodara.

The city is currently served by Alliance Air which also operates a daily ATR72-600 flight to Mumbai and Star Air which operates a daily Embraer E145 service to Ahmedabad. Bhuj Airport has a small terminal managed by the Airports Authority of India.

Bhuj is the gateway to the Kutch region in the state of Gujarat. The city is famous for the temples in and around the city like the Swaminarayan Temple and places like Chhatardi Bhuj, Aaina Mahal Palace, Harmirsar Lake and Prag Mahal.

Bhuj is one of the few airports which got affected by the collapse of Jet Airways a lot. The airline used to operate flights to Mumbai. Air India is entering a comparatively developed but underserved market and with Kutch as a tourist destination gaining popularity in the last few years, it seems that the airline will do well in the market. The arrival of Air India in Kutch will be welcome news for the businesses in Kutch as well as the travel and tourism industries in the region.

Passengers from Bhuj will have one-stop connectivity to London and San Francisco along with some Middle Eastern cities with convenient connection times.

In the past, IndiGo had been alloted slots for flights to Bhuj from Delhi and Mumbai but it has never gone ahead and actually started flights. It seems that Air India is taking advantage of this perfect opportunity.

Meanwhile, Air India recently opened bookings for Airbus A350 flights.

Would be nice if operates efficiently like jet airways did. Customer experience must be at forefront!

Air India is a reliable airline and I am sure it will maintain its schedules given the loads on flights are acceptable. The Tata Group is making efforts to enhance the passenger experience and it will hopefully improve over time.

Happy travels!
