ITC Hotels has announced the opening of Storii by ITC Hotels The Kaha Retreat, Solan. This is the first property for the comparatively newer Storii brand in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India.
Location and Design
Spread over five acres, Storii by ITC Hotels The Kaba Retreat, Solan is located in Kaba DharGuda village in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Chandigarh’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport is the nearest airport from the resort, 75 kilometres away.
ITC says that the “charming retreat has been built keeping in mind modern comforts supported with conscious building practices – replete with a distinct character that is unscripted and boutique”. An arboretum in the heart of the campus is dotted with Himalayan Cherry Blossoms, Deodhars, Oak, Weeping willows and more.
Accommodations
The boutique resort features 15 guest rooms and suites. Additionally, 5 “experiential” Forest Pods and 6 cottages are going to open soon. The base rooms start at 41 square meters (441 square feet approximately) offering unobstructed views of the surrounding Shivalik Range.

Dining and Facilities
Food&Beverage outlets at the resort include Buzz, serving delectable local and international cuisine. The menu includes regional Himachali food, hot pot pies in ramekins, wok of freshly picked vegetables amongst others.
Another Round is a charming cafe offering freshly brewed coffee, masala chai, tisanes, hot chocolate and other beverages along with finger food.
The resort offers experiences such as mountain hikes and picnics, a drive to Kuthar Fort, visit to Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple, master class with executive chef, camping in the woods amongst others.
The resort is currently offering a Introductory Offer. As part of this, guests have a hotel credit of INR 1,000 per room per night, daily breakfast, Wi-Fi and club ITC members earn 2X points.
Thoughts
Solan is not a tourist destination. It’s not on the tourism map. It’s only seen as a pit-stop when travelling between Chandigarh and Shimla. However, the arrival of this resort should change things slowly.
Shimla is becoming a very crowded market in terms of number of tourists and hotels. This new Storii property is perfect for those who are looking to avoid the crowds and have a peaceful stay.
