- Flight time: 15 hours and 20 minutes

- New Delhi-New York JFK
- Departure time: 00:20
- Arrival time: 06:45 (the next day)
- Flight time: 16 hours and 55 minutes
- Flight number: AA293
This route will be served by the newer premium-heavy B787-9s featuring 51 lie-flat Business Class suites, 32 Premium Economy seats and 161 standard Economy Class seats.

New Delhi is Americanโs sole destination in India. The switch from B777-300ERs to B787-9s will result in a drop of seats on each flight. While Americanโs B777-300ER seat 304 passengers, the premium-heavy B787-9s seat just 244 passengers. While this results in capacity drop, the premium capacity on each flight is increasing, which may lead to better yields.
American faces strong competition from Air India on this route, which is by far the largest carrier operating between India and the United States. With the airline now deploying premium-heavy B787s on its India service, it seems that American wants to go all-in with its offerings, resulting in enhanced passenger experience.
Meanwhile, American Airlines recently announced new service between New York and Tokyo.
