Cathay Pacific has unveiled new Business, Premium Economy and Economy seats for B777-300ERs (Extra Range) and upcoming B777-9s.
Business Class suites
The new Cathay Pacific Business Class suites are called “Aria Suites”. The new seats seem to be an evolution of the Collins Aerospace Diamond seats (I might be wrong here). The new suites, configured 1-2-1, feature a privacy door and sliding partition for the middle seats, personalised suite lightning, 24-inch 4K inflight entertainment screen, Bluetooth audio, multiple USB ports and wireless charging slot.

The cabin also features “Gallery in the Skies”, where 30 pieces of artwork created by artists who share a deep connection with Hong Kong will be displayed in Business Class.

Premium Economy and Economy
The new Premium Economy seats feature a 15.6-inch 4K inflight entertainment screen, “generous” recline and legroom and personal reading light, along with USB ports.

The new Economy seats feature a 13-inch inflight entertainment screen, Bluetooth connectivity, charging ports. The airline says that the seats are designed with a “comfort first approach with contemporary materials and a distinctly modern touch”. Passengers will soon be able to sync their inflight entertainment with their travel companion.

Thoughts
Cathay Pacific has always positioned itself as a premium airline, mainly competing with Singapore Airlines in the region. The airline was one of the worst hit by the pandemic. However, things seem to be going back to normal, with Cathay’s traffic increasing considerably.
The new Aria Suites are a step in the right direction in my opinion. To stay competitive in the market, each airline needs to continuously evolve their products to better match passengers’ needs. Cathay’s current Business Class is not all that old, having been refreshed only a few years ago. However, the Hong Kong-based carrier’s B777’s seats are old enough now.
The airline says that these new seats will be installed in B777-300ERs and the upcoming B777-9s. There’s no indication of these seats coming to Airbus A350s as well. There’s no mention of First Class either, so it may be presumed that First Class cabin will be gone from Cathay Pacific in the coming years.
