I will say it out loud here. Trident Udaipur is undoubtedly one of the finest resorts in its category in Udaipur. If you are looking to stay in the midst of action in the bustling tourist town of Udaipur, this hotel is perfect for you. From the convenient location to impeccable hospitality, Trident Udaipur continues to win hearts of its guests. Read on to find out how my experience was at one of Trident’s flagship properties.
Here’s a full tour of Trident Udaipur:
Booking
We stayed at Trident Udaipur in July 2021 (I know I am writing this review after almost three years…but I am just happy getting this review out after all). Since the second wave of the pandemic had just subsided here in India at that point of time, resorts were giving out some pretty impressive deals.
We got hands on one of such deals, with a base Garden View Room costing us around INR 12,500 per room per night including all three meals and taxes. Considering that rooms at this resort can easily go around INR 20,000 during some seasons, it was a good deal. We booked through a local travel agent.
Location
Trident Udaipur enjoys an excellent location on the shores of Lake Pichola, one of the three large lakes (the biggest one) in Udaipur. The grounds are shared with the bigger and more grander Oberoi Udaivilas.
The resort, spread over 43 acres, sits on the former 200-year old hunting grounds of the royal family of Udaipur. Udaipur’s Maharana Pratap Airport in Dabok is 45 minutes away while Udaipur City Railway Station is a 20 minute drive away. The city centre is at a 10-15 minute drive from the resort.
Udaipur is known as the “City of Lakes” as well as “India’s most romantic city”. The city was founded in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the new capital of the Mewar Kingdom. It is also known as the “Venice of the East” because of the many picturesque lakes present in the city. The rolling Aravalli hills and the beautiful lakes make a picture-perfect backdrop to the city. Udaipur is famous for its historic palaces, narrow alleys, imposing forts, hidden temples, tranquil gardens, colourful fairs and lively festivals.

Design
The arrival courtyard features a beautiful water fountain in the middle, which perfectly sets the tone for what the resort has to offer.

The resort’s design has been inspired from the traditional Mewari architecture (the area where Udaipur is located), with elements of Mughal architecture blended into it. The result is a splendid amalgamation of both the architectural styles giving the resort a nice “Rajasthani” vibe if I may say so.

The “Jharokha” windows and the Udaipur Green Marble floor tiles in the common areas are signature to Trident Udaipur. The resort was designed by Nimish Patel, one of the star architects having designed many luxury hotels including the Oberoi Udaivilas. The resort’s interiors pay an ode to Rajasthan’s regal legacy and heritage.

Accommodations
Trident Udaipur features 139 guest rooms and 3 suites. The rooms have views of the gardens, swimming pool or the Aravalli Hills. I stayed in a Garden View Room. While the base rooms are small at 24 square meters of floor space, they are kept in pristine condition. The rooms are furnished with handcrafted furniture, decorated in warm earthy tones and accented by local Rajasthani artwork.

The rooms feature authentic Rajasthani Jharoka window frames and Jaipuri kalam vegetable dye artwork. The beds are on the comfier side.
The bedside tables have an alarm clock, multiple charging ports and a telephone. Just beside the bed is a comfortable chair. And across the bed is the television, with the minibar below it. The minibar was well stocked during my visit. Tea/Coffee is available on a complimentary basis.

The wardrobe houses the iron board as well as a safe. It is big enough to fit all the necessary items.
The bathroom, in my opinion, was the main highlight of the room. I have never seen a hotel bathroom kept in such an immaculate condition. It features a single sink, a WC and a large walk-in shower.

Kama Ayurveda toiletries are provided. According to me, these are some of the best you would get in a hotel.

Dining
Trident Udaipur features three Food&Beverage outlets. Aravalli is the resort’s main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Named after the rolling Aravalli Ranges that surround Udaipur, Aravalli offers Indian, Western and Asian cuisines along with special Rajasthani dishes with views of the swimming pool.

Food at the resort during my stay was very delicious. Breakfast is an elaborate affair with an extensive buffet featuring hot dishes (both Indian and Western), multiple desserts, fresh juices and fresh cut fruits along with some made-to-order items also available.

I had lunch at Aravalli on the day of arrival. We had a Margherita Pizza, Sev Puri (an Indian street food item) and ice cream for dessert.

Amrit Mahal is the resort’s bar with an extensive selection of spirits, wines, cocktails and mocktails. The drinks can be paired with appetizers. Hand-picked traditional artefacts dot the contemporary and cheerful décor at Amrit Mahal.

The Terrace is an extension of Aravalli restaurant and is only open for dinner. It serves authentic vegetarian and non-vegetarian Rajasthani thalis with splendid views of Lake Pichola and the surrounding Aravalli Hills.

Facilities
Trident Udaipur is a family-friendly resort, with something or the other for everyone to do. The resort’s swimming pool takes the centre stage, surrounded by chic sun loungers, while the well-manicured plants provide for a perfect backdrop.

Just across the swimming pool is the fitness centre featuring all the basic machines. There is also a Kids’ Club having indoor as well as outdoor activities. It has movie shows as well as video games and a children’s library.

The resort has lots and lots of landscaped gardens. The flower-filled gardens roll down from the hotel’s pavilions to the lake’s tree-fringed shore. It’s a pure delight to explore the gardens on foot or to relax during the heat of the day.

The resort also features a walking trail, lined with flora and fauna making for a very relaxing experience. Just off the walking trail is the way to a seating area, which offers stunning views.

The resort’s also houses a boutique shop called “Revere Rajputana”. The in-house jewellery brand is known for balancing contemporary design and traditional elegance. The Trident Spa offers Ayurvedic and Western inspired therapies.

Service
The service at Trident Udaipur during my stay was impeccable. It was a perfect balance between personal touch and professionalism.
This was our third time at Trident Udaipur. While having breakfast, a staff member asked my dad about our plan for the day. My dad said, “We have been to Udaipur many times and have seen all of the “touristy” places. This trip is just for relaxing and nothing else”. The staff member then asked if we are repeat guests at Trident Udaipur to which my dad replied positively. He instantly nodded and said “If you want help with anything during your stay, please let me know”, with a genuine smile on his face.
This was just one instance of interacting with a staff member. Each and every person we interacted with had a smile on their face and exuded warmth.
Thoughts and IH score
Trident Udaipur, with its perfect location, excellent service, delicious food, albeit small but well laid out rooms and great facilities, is a very good choice in Udaipur. This continues to be the hotel of our choice whenever we visit the city.
