Earlier, IH Aviation and Travel shared that Oberoi Group has announced plans to expand with new resorts in Goa, Tirupati amongst others. Now, Oberoi Group, which consists of the flagship Oberoi Hotels and Resorts and the more affordable Trident Hotels and Resorts, has announced plans to open 50 new hotels by 2030. Let’s find out more.
Growth plans
Vikram Oberoi, CEO and Managing Director of EIH Hospitality (parent company of Oberoi Hotels), announced that the group aims to open 50 new hotels by 2030. Speaking at the Skift India Summit in Delhi, he said that the group’s focus for 2030 is now on expanding its portfolio of hotels and resorts. He emphasised that some hotels will be smaller in scale. He also announced plans for Oberoi Nature.
One of the things that we’re working on and we’ve got an internal name for it, which is Oberoi Nature. That won’t be the final branding, but these are smaller hotels in beautiful locations and have a strong sense of place. And all our research on guests tells us that is something that they would deeply value.
Vikram said.
Oberoi Nature is not a new brand but a new category under Oberoi Hotels and Resorts which will focus on building properties amidst nature. Mr. Oberoi said that there are three reasons why growth is important to the group.
When guests travel, we want them to stay at our hotels. We need to be in locations where guests travel to. Certainly, in key locations in India and maybe in key geographies overseas.
Secondly, attracting, retaining and growing talent is something that’s very close to our heart. We want people to grow with Oberoi rather than grow elsewhere. Thirdly, growth is an important criteria for creating shareholder value.
he said.
He added that hotel rates need to go up in India since the country has some of the best hotels in the world.
If you compare us to hotels in other parts of the world, our rates offer fantastic value for money. In fact beyond that. So, there is an opportunity to catch up with the rest of the world on rates.
he said.
He emphasised that the group will not compromise on quality while expanding. The group’s core focus will be on providing the best level of service that it is known for while expanding in locations where guests want to travel.
