Malaysia Airlines will start taking delivery of Airbus A330neo aircraft in the third quarter of 2024. We now have an idea as to what the interior of these upcoming aircraft will be like. Let’s take a look.
Business Class
Malaysia Airlines says that the new A330neo cabin will feature many ‘firsts’ for the airline and historically in its fleet. Among those is the introduction of the Collins Aerospace Elevation Business Class seats, featuring an all-suite cabin with individual privacy doors, as well as wireless charging pods available at all 28 of the Business Class seats. Malaysia Airlines is the first airline to install Elevation seats on the A330 airframe.

said Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG).
Economy Class
The Kuala-Lumpur based airline will install the Recaro CL3810 Economy Class seats. The seat features an ergonomic design and enhanced support, coupled with thoughtful amenities such as coat hooks, cup holder and ample stowage.

The seat covers throughout the cabin will feature the airline’s signature songket motif, paying homage to Malaysia’s cultural heritage by seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary style.

The A330neo aircraft will feature a total of 297 seats – 28 in Business Class in a 1-2-1 configuration and 269 in Economy Class, 24 of which will be extra legroom seats, in a 2-4-2 configuration.
Plans for A330neo
Malaysia Airlines has 20 A330neos on order, which will eventually replace its current A330 fleet. The airline is expecting the delivery of first A330neo in the third quarter of 2024 and three more by the end of this year.
According to Aeroroutes, the airline initially intends to deploy the A330neo on its Melbourne route, operating 6 of the 7-weekly MH149/148 flights from 25th November 2024. Aeroroutes further reports that the carrier’s second A330neo will be deployed on flights to Auckland from 30th March 2025, although changes to this schedule are likely to happen as it’s too early right now.
Malaysia Airlines also intends to retrofit six A350-900s with these new seats from 2026.
