Air India has announced the addition of flights to Zurich. This will be the first time in 26 years that the Indian airline will operate flights to Switzerland.
Delhi-Zurich nonstop
Starting 16th June 2024, Air India will operate nonstop flights between Delhi and Zurich, marking Air Indiaโs entry once again in the Switzerland market. Aeroroutes reports that the airline last served the country in 1998. The flights will operate with the following schedule:
- Delhi-Zurich
- Departure time: 14:05
- Arrival time: 19:15
- Flight time: 8 hours and 40 minutes
- Flight number: AI151
- Frequency: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
- Zurich-Delhi
- Departure time: 20:50
- Arrival time: 08:05 (the next day)
- Flight time: 7 hours and 45 minutes
- Flight number: AI152
- Frequency: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays

This new route strengthens the ties between India and Switzerland, which are not only major trading partners, but also boast a vibrant exchange of people. With over 250 Swiss companies operating in India, hundreds of Indian companies in Switzerland, and a growing Indian diaspora of nearly 18,000, these flights will cater to a strong demand for business and leisure travel in both directions.
Switzerland, a consistently top-ranking European destination for Indian tourists, will now be even more accessible, with these flights further solidifying the economic and cultural bridges between the two nations.
Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Air India said.
These flights will be operated by Air Indiaโs Boeing B787-8 Dreamliners featuring 18 lie-flat Business Class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration and 238 standard Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 configuration.
The airline says that its โnew service will provide travellers in Switzerland, as well as those in southern Germany and western Austria with a non-stop option to travel to Delhi, and onward to destinations across Air Indiaโs growing route network, particularly in the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australiaโ.
The carrier adds that the new flightsโ schedules passengers to easily connect via Delhi to/from popular destinations, such as Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, Ho Chi Minh City, Kathmandu, Melbourne, Phuket, Singapore, and Sydney, amongst others.
Meanwhile, Air India recently reduced baggage allowance on domestic flights effective immediately.
