Air India to expand domestic operations this June

Air India is making some changes to its domestic network. The airline’s expansion from Mumbai and Delhi will take place in June. Let’s have a look at it.

Thanks of X/AviationAll_, we now know all about Air India’s domestic expansion from Mumbai and Delhi which will be effective from next month.

Air India Expansion Ex-Mumbai

Starting 15th June 2024, Air India will operate a daily service to Vijayawada and a 6-weekly service to Jammu from Mumbai. Both the routes will be operated by all-Economy aircraft. The Vijayawada service replaces the Kozhikode service while Jammu replaces Varanasi.

Mumbai-Vijayawada-Mumbai flights will operate with the following schedule:

  • Mumbai-Vijayawada
  • Departure time: 15:55
  • Arrival time: 17:45
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 50 minutes
  • Flight number: AI598
  • Frequency: Daily

  • Vijayawada-Mumbai
  • Departure time: 19:10
  • Arrival time: 21:00
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 50 minutes
  • Flight number: AI599
  • Frequency: Daily

Air India will have a monopoly on this route.

Mumbai-Jammu-Mumbai service will operate with the following timings:

  • Mumbai-Jammu
  • Departure time: 10:15
  • Arrival time: 12:55
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 40 minutes
  • Flight number: AI592
  • Frequency: All days except Wednesday

  • Jammu-Mumbai
  • Departure time: 14:10
  • Arrival time: 16:35
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 25 minutes
  • Flight number: AI593
  • Frequency: All days except Wednesday

As of 16th June 2024, the airline will operate a daily flight between Mumbai and Srinagar with the following schedule:

  • Mumbai-Srinagar
  • Departure time: 05:25
  • Arrival time: 08:05
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 40 minutes
  • Flight number: AI596
  • Frequency: Daily

  • Srinagar-Mumbai
  • Departure time: 08:55
  • Arrival time: 11:40
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 45 minutes
  • Flight number: AI597
  • Frequency: Daily

Air India will compete with Akasa Air, IndiGo and SpiceJet on this route. The Srinagar service replaces Air India’s daily Pune service.

Ex-Delhi

Starting 1st June 2024, Air India will operate an additional daily frequency between Delhi and Ahmedabad with the following schedule:

  • Delhi-Ahmedabad
  • Departure time: 20:45
  • Arrival time: 22:15
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • Flight number: AI493
  • Frequency: Daily

  • Ahmedabad-Delhi
  • Departure time: 23:00
  • Arrival time: 00:30 (the next day)
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • Flight number: AI494
  • Frequency: Daily

With this addition, the airline will operate 36-flights-a-week between the two cities.

Starting 2nd June 2024, the full-service carrier will operate an additional 4-weekly frequency between Delhi and Varanasi, taking the total to 11-flights-a-week. The new frequency will run with the following timings:

  • Delhi-Varanasi
  • Departure time: 12:00
  • Arrival time: 13:30
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • Flight number: AI483
  • Frequency: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays

  • Varanasi-Delhi
  • Departure time: 14:20
  • Arrival time: 15:30
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • Flight number: AI484
  • Frequency: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays

As of 2nd June 2024, the airline will also operate a new 6-weekly service between Delhi and Coimbatore with the following schedule:

  • Delhi-Coimbatore
  • Departure time: 15:00
  • Arrival time: 18:00
  • Flight time: 3 hours
  • Flight number: AI547
  • Frequency: All days except Saturday

  • Coimbatore-Delhi
  • Departure time: 18:45
  • Arrival time: 21:50
  • Flight time: 3 hours and 05 minutes
  • Flight number: AI548
  • Frequency: All days except Saturday

Air India will compete with Vistara and IndiGo on this route.
