India’s largest low-cost carrier IndiGo has announced the addition of Madinah to its network, with flights beginning next month.
IndiGo to Madinah
Madinah, Saudi Arabia is IndiGo’s 38th international and 128th overall destination.
Starting 20th February 2025, IndiGo will operate 3-flights-a-week between Hyderabad (HYD) and Madinah (MED) with the following schedule:
- Hyderabad-Madinah
- Departure time: 19:35
- Arrival time: 23:45
- Flight time: 6 hours and 40 minutes
- Flight number: 6E57
- Frequency: Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays
- Madinah-Hyderabad
- Departure time: 00:45
- Arrival time: 08:10
- Flight time: 4 hours and 55 minutes
- Flight number: 6E58
- Frequency: Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays
These flights will be operated by the airline’s Airbus A320neo aircraft. IndiGo will have a monopoly on this route. The 3-weekly frequency suggests that the airline is trying to develop the route and then gradually scale up.
The launch of the Hyderabad-Madinah route is more than just expanding our network; it opens a vital gateway for religious and cultural exchange. By commencing direct flights to Madinah, a major Islamic pilgrimage site, we aim to simplify travel within the region and beyond. With the launch of this flight, IndiGo will now operate over 100 weekly flights to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from India.

Madinah will be the fourth destination in Saudi Arabia to be served by IndiGo. The airline currently operates flights to Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam.
Madinah holds immense spiritual significance and is home to the Prophet’s Mosque, Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, which houses the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad. Madinah is a place of deep reverence and a central destination for pilgrims undertaking Hajj and Umrah. The city’s serene atmosphere and historical importance create a profound spiritual experience for visitors. Beyond its religious significance, Madinah also offers a glimpse into the rich history and culture of Islam, with numerous historical sites and museums that showcase the city’s heritage.
Five destinations announced
Last year, during an earnings call, IndiGo had announced that it would launch flights to seven new international destinations by March 2025. Five of them have been announced until now. Mauritius and Langkawi from Bengaluru, Penang and Jaffna from Chennai and now Madinah from Hyderabad.
The two destinations remaining will likely be announced soon. Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, Siem Reap in Cambodia, Seychelles and Medan in Indonesia are some of the rumoured destinations IndiGo might be targeting. Will the carrier launch flights to any of these destinations or give us a surprise? It all remains to be seen.
