
There is some exciting news for all those who are planning to holiday in the Maldives.
The country has recently announced its own traveler loyalty programme. With this programme launch, Maldives will be the first country to launch a such a scheme. which is expected to provide a big push to tourism post COVID pandemic.
The Maldives Border Miles Programme will reportedly have three tiers – Abaarana (Gold), Antara (Silver) and Aida (Bronze), which will be available for travellers visiting the Maldives. As per the scheme, one can gain travel points and use it on their holiday in the Maldives.
Maldives Immigration, an official government-run Twitter account, recently made an announcement related to this, stating: “Maldives Border Miles is a three-tiered loyalty program for tourists. Tourists will earn points based on the number of visits and duration of stay. Additional points will be awarded for visits to celebrate special occasions.”
An official from the Maldives’ National Tourism Board stated that it is not clear what perks a traveler will get in the three tiers mentioned above and how they can accumulate the points. However, as per the reports, the program will likely be initiated from December 2020.
