The aviation watchdog of India, DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) on Sunday said it’s approved 13K (around 12,983) weekly domestic flights of airlines for the winter schedule that begins on 25th October 2020 and continues till 27th March 2021.
The DGCA further said that out of 12983 weekly flights, Indigo-the largest carrier- will operate 6006 flights. Further, SpiceJet will operate 1957 weekly flights while GoAir will operate 1203 weekly flights.
Last year, the aviation regulator had approved 23,307 weekly domestic flights within the winter schedule, which is 45% higher than the present year’s schedule. This year’s winter schedule has got just 55.7 percent (12,983 flights) of those flights approved, according to the aviation regulator.
Currently, airlines in India are allowed to operate a maximum of 60 percent of pre-COVID weekly domestic flights.
These 12983 flights will be operating from 95 Indian airports between October 25 and March 27, 2021, the DGCA said.
