Qatar airways yesterday revealed that is further expanding its strategic partnerships signing an expanded codeshare agreement with Spanish airline Iberia.

Qatar Airways owns 25.1% of Iberia’s owner, the International Airlines Group. The move comes as Qatar Airways looks to strengthen passengers’ travel options to South America through a range of partnerships.
The Doha-based airline said that the expanded commercial cooperation will enable its passengers to book travel to and from 40 destinations on Iberia’s network across the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America, including new routes in Brazil, Chile, El Salvador and Guatemala.
The expanded commercial cooperation will increase the number of destinations available to Iberia passengers from 29 to 36 on Qatar Airways’ network, including new destinations in Angola, Australia, Mozambique, New Zealand and South Africa.
Customers won’t have to wait to make use of the expanded codeshare agreement as Qatar Airways revealed tickets have already gone on sale.

Both airlines are members of the Oneworld alliance, meaning customers will get tier status recognition on each other’s flights, including lounge access, priority check-in and boardig, and accrual and redemption of miles.
Qatar airways has recently signed and expanded codeshare agreements with numerous airlines such as LATAM , Oman Air and China Southern Airlines.
