Emirates announces resumption of fifth-freedom service between Milan and New York

Emirates today announced that the airline is planning to resume its fifth-freedom service between Milan Malpensa and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport from 1st June,2021.

The service will be a year round service and will be run by a Boeing B777-300ER. The Milan-New York JFK flight will be an extension to Emirates’ existing flights to Milan EK205. This service will be complemented by the existing double-daily service, meaning that the airline’s service to and from New York JFK will increase to three times daily. The announcement comes just a day after the airline announced resumption of services to Orlando.

Emirates’ Boeing B777-300ER

This flights will be operated by Emirates’ Boeing B777-300ER featuring 8 seats in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business and 304 ergonomically designed seats in Economy class. 8 seats in First class means that passengers will see the old first-class product on this flights and not the new ‘Game-Changing’ suites, of which only 6 are present onboard.

Reaffirming its commitment to US market

Emirates has recently reaffirmed its commitment to the United States. The Dubai-based carrier has been gradually increasing its US network after the pandemic. The carrier has announced resumption of fifth-freedom services between Athens and Newark in addition to resumption of services to Orlando.

Once these flights start, Emirates will be serving 11 destinations in the United States including Boston, New York (JFK), Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C, Seattle, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Newark (in June) and Orlando. The resumed service between Dubai-Milan-JFK will offer more choice to travellers heading from Europe, the Middle East, West Asia, and Africa via Dubai or Milan. Passengers can also access to other US cities beyond New York via the airline’s codeshare agreement with JetBlue.
