Air India launches flights between Chennai and Paris

Air India has launched flights between Chennai in Tamil Nadu and the capital of France.

The flights on the Chennai-Paris route will operate once-a-week on Friday while the flights on Paris-Chennai route will operate once-a-week every Wednesday. The flights will be operated by a Boeing B787 Dreamliner and are already running on the aforementioned days.

Flight schedule of Chennai-Paris-Chennai route:

  • Arrival time: 08:40
  • Flight time: 10 hours and 50 minutes

  • Paris Charles de Gaulle-Chennai
  • Departure time: 20:30
  • Arrival time: 09:55 (the next day)
  • Flight time: 9 hours and 55 minutes

Monopoly on Chennai-Paris route presently

Presently, there is no competitor for the national carrier of India on this route. Air France had announced plans to operate flights to Chennai but because of the pandemic, the carrier never started flying to this South Indian city.

Google Flights shows that Air France will be resuming its services to Chennai from 3rd June,2021. Flights will operate on thrice-a-week by a Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner.

Air India expanding internationally

The Indian national carrier of India recently announced flights from Goa and Delhi to Moscow in addition to flights to Singapore. The airline also announced flights to Italy and Japan from Delhi in addition to a new route between Hyderabad and London.

Meanwhile, the Indian aviation minister has said that Air India has two choices, either privatisation or shut down.
