Air Canada expands in Hawaii with new flights this winter

Air Canada has announced that it is adding a number of new nonstop flights to Hawaii from every major Canadian city this winter.

Direct flights from east coast

Till now, Air Canada used to operate flights to Hawaii only from the western part of the country-largely from Calgary and Vancouver. However, this will soon change when Air Canada launches new Montreal-Honolulu and Toronto-Maui services this winter.

The Canadian-flag carrier says that these new flights will complement the airline’s long-standing services from Calgary and Vancouver to the Hawaiian Islands and willalso be timed to allow for convenient connections across Canada as well as from Europe.

Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President, Network Planning and Revenue Management, Air Canada, said:

We are seeing strong demand in the sun markets this winter with people in Canadaand around the world looking ahead to holiday travel. As we finalize our schedule to position Air Canada’s leadership in leisure travel this winter, we have added new non-stop flights to Hawaii from Montreal and Toronto in addition to our flights from Calgary and Vancouver, making it more convenient than ever for Canadians across the country to experience the Hawaiian Islands. From Europe, customers will be able to easily connect to our Hawaii flights from our Montreal and Toronto gateways. We know people will be excited to travel this winter, and we look forward to welcoming our customers onboard

Lorenzo Campos, Account Director for Hawai’i Tourism Canada, said:

We are very happy that Air Canada is launching additional options to fly to Hawai’i. We are looking forward to welcoming back our Canadian friends. We would like to say a big mahalo to our trusted partner Air Canada for the continuous support in sharing the aloha spirit and always embracing the Hawaiian value of mālama.

Air Canada’s Hawaii Winter Schedule

Air Canada has posted the schedule of its Hawaii flights for this winter on its website. This also includes new flights to Honolulu, Maui and Kona. For your reading convenience, I have embedded the schedules, which shows flights from Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Montreal.

As you can see from the above schedule, flights from the east coast of Canada will be operated by a Boeing B787 Dreamliner. Flights from Montreal and Toronto are timed to offer connections from European cities such as London, Brussels, Frankfurt and Vienna – as well as other parts of Canada.

Air Canada’s refund policy

Flight cancellations have become a normal thing in these pandemic times and Air Canada wants to offer some type of security if these flights get cancelled. Air Canada will offer cash refunds or:

  • An Air Canada Travel Voucher
  • Or the equivalent value in Aeroplan Points (with a 65% bonus should the airline cancel or reschedule a flight by more than three hours)

Recently, US-based low cost carrier Southwest also revealed a major Hawaii expansion with new flights.
