Postcard Resorts has opened its 1st ever property in Gujarat in Gir called The Postcard Gir Wildlife Sanctuary. The resort blends luxury with wilderness in the middle of the Gir forest – the home of the asiatic lions.
Location
The Postcard Gir Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of 39 kilometres from the Gir National Park. Ahmedabad is 391 kilometres away while Rajkot is 165 kilometres away. The closest airport is in Diu which is 56 kilometres from the property. The hotel offers the gravitational experience of being secluded in the depth of nature, and an inlet into the inspiring and unexplored region of Saurashtra. The hotel is spread across 16 acres of Kesar Mango Orchards.
Accommodations
Postcard Hotels are known to be secluded and for privacy. The same is applicable for The Postcard Gir. The hotel consists of just 15 guest rooms spread across two categories: Luxury Rooms and Premier Rooms. Rooms are designed to maintain the soul and spirit of the region, and come with a view of the pool, the dry deciduous forest or the mango orchards.
Luxury rooms are warm and welcoming with high ceilings. Each room is private and comes with its own entrance and patio. Neutral, minimal tones embellished with antique brass make the aesthetics of the room contemporary yet classic.
Premier rooms come with the exclusive views of the outdoors. The greenery of the mango orchards and the silhouettes of the woods add to the raw, natural character of these spacious rooms and bathrooms.
Dining
The resort has just one restaurant. The Postcard Gir’s menu is an amalgamation of popular Gujarati recipes and the chef’s signature creations. Salli boti (mutton preparation with fried potato) and kolmi patio (spiced prawns) from the coast of Veraval are amongst some of the hidden culinary treasures of the state that are served here. Gujarati specialities such as Dhokla, Fafda and Thepla are also served.
Facilities and Experiences
An outdoor swimming pool is present at the hotel with sun loungers surrounding it. The hotel also provides Badminton equipment. Morning trails with a naturalist, crocodile sightings at the Hiran river, picnics at secret spots with spectacular views of the landscape or local craft sessions are some of the experiences that guests can enjoy.
