Vistara restructures its ‘Freedom Fares’ programme

Indian full-service carrier Vistara has announced that it has restructured its ‘Freedom Fares’ programme, which was launched back in 2018, offering services on a pay-for-what-you-value basis.

Restructured

Effective today (6th July 2021), the Delhi-based carrier will offer ‘Flexi’ fares at an extra fee of ₹499 ($6.5) (per sector) over standard fares. This additional fare is only applicable to passengers travelling in Economy Class and Premium Economy Class. It is free of cost for Business Class Passengers.

The latest restructured fare will allow passengers to carry 5 kilograms of additional check-in baggage in addition to the flexibility to make unlimited changes to their flight bookings up to 24 hours before departure. Until now, passengers travelling in Economy Class who bought the ‘Freedom Fare’ were limited to one change up to 72 hours before departure while passengers travelling in Premium Economy class were allowed two changes up to 48 hours before departure.

As part of the new structure, customers who opt for the Economy Lite fares will now have greater flexibility around changes than before, said Vistara adding that the introduction of these enhanced benefits comes directly in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The airline added:

Business class customers opting for flexi fares at no extra fee will be able to make unlimited changes to their bookings up to 12 hours before departure.

Vistara recently announced plans to start nonstop flights to the United States in the fourth quarter of 2021. The airline also recently operated India’s first flight with fully vaccinated crew.
