SpiceJet launches flights between Mumbai and Amritsar

Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet has announced the launch of flights between Mumbai and Amritsar.

Mumbai-Amritsar connection

As of 20th July 2021, SpiceJet is flying daily between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport.

The schedule for the flights is:

  • Mumbai-Amritsar
  • Departure time: 05:40
  • Arrival time: 08:05
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 25 minutes
  • Flight number: SG276
  • Frequency: Daily
  • Amritsar-Mumbai
  • Departure time: 08:35
  • Arrival time: 11:00
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 25 minutes
  • Flight number: SG279
  • Frequency: Daily

Flights will be operated by the airline’s Boeing B737 aircraft. The airline says that ‘convenient’ connections will be available to cities such as Bagdogra, Kandla, Darbhanga, Goa, Chennai and Bengaluru.

Competition

SpiceJet will compete with Indian national carrier Air India and rival low-cost carrier Indigo on Mumbai-Amritsar route. While Air India operates 5-weekly flights, Indigo operates a daily flight between the two cities giving a strong competition to SpiceJet.

Meanwhile, SpiceJet recently announced 42 new domestic and international flights including flights to Maldives as the country is now welcoming travellers from India. The airline has also announced flights from Hyderabad to Kochi and from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam and Guwahati. SpiceJet has launched nonstop flights between Rajkot and Goa, becoming the first airline to operate the route.
