Bangkok Airways today announced that it will be resuming flights between Samui and Phuket this month.
Starting 25th August 2021, Bangkok Airways will once again operate flights between Samui Airport and Phuket International Airport. Initially, flights will run 3-times-a-week. However, the frequency of flights will increase next month. The flights will run with the following schedule:
- Samui-Phuket
- Departure time: 11:25
- Arrival time: 12:25
- Flight time: 1 hour
- Flight number: PG253
- Frequency: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (increasing to daily from 1st September 2021)
- Phuket-Samui
- Departure time: 13:00
- Arrival time: 14:00
- Flight time: 1 hour
- Flight number: PG254
- Frequency: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (increasing to daily from 1st September 2021)

These flights will be operated by an ATR72-600 aircraft featuring 70 seats in a 2-2 configuration. The Bangkok-based airline says that it is resuming these flights to ‘support Thailand’s re-opening projects which are Phuket Sandbox and Samui Plus Model’.
Passengers travelling to and from the two cities are required to present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test conducted no more than 72 hours before departure. Additionally, the airline states that the passengers are also required to strictly follow guidelines issued by Phuket provincial office and Surat Thani provincial office. Furthermore, Bangkok Airways notes that it has extended the temporary suspension of in-flight meal service and temporary closure of its passenger lounges ‘until further notice’.
Phuket has been welcoming international tourists since 1st July 2021 under the ‘Phuket Sandbox’ programme. Middle Eastern airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways ans Etihad Airways have resumed flights to the Thai city.
