Flights to Idaho Falls will be operated by Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 aircraft (AlaskaHorizon aircraft) while flights to Las Vegas will be operated by Embraer E175 aircraft (AlaskaSkyWest aircraft).

Brett Catlin, Vice President of Network and Alliances, Alaska Airlines, said:

We have deep roots in the Treasure Valley and our commitment to our guests in southern Idaho keeps getting stronger. Reconnecting Boise and Idaho Falls with nonstop air service will drive economic activity and enable further growth of our Boise focus city, including today’s announcement of new nonstop service to Vegas.

With the addition of these 2 new routes, Alaska Airlines will have up to 36 daily departures from Boise to 15 destinations by next summer – all of which will be nonstop.

Rebecca Hupp, Director, Boise Airport, said:

We are so pleased that Alaska Airlines is bringing more intrastate connectivity to the residents and businesses of Boise. Nonstop service between Boiseand Idaho Falls enhances both communities, making business and leisure travel more convenient between the two.

The airline states that the flight times ‘work out well for a day trip from Idaho Falls to Boise: a mid-morning departure and then a return flight in the early evening’. The added route will also link all key population centers across the state to Boise, joining Alaska’s existing flights from the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene and Pullman/Moscow areas.

Rebecca Casper, Mayor, Idaho Falls, said:

The flexibility Alaska Airlines’ new intrastate route provides to local residents is immeasurable. It provides the perfect work-life balance to those looking to live in the beautiful Idaho Falls region while still maintaining access to Boise for business reasons or connections onward for leisure travel. It’s a win for everyone.

In addition to new routes, Alaska has another good news for passengers flying out of Boise. Starting 19th November 2021, Alaska will begin flying daily between Boise and Phoenix, which the airline states is a heavily requested destination in the desert. Originally scheduled for seasonal flying during the winter, Alaska will now operate the route year-round.

Meanwhile, Alaska Airlines recently announced nonstop flights between Anchorage and Salt Lake City.
