SpiceJet announces flights from Kushinagar to Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata

SpiceJet, India’s second largest low cost carrier, has announced nonstop flights from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. The airline will connect Kushinagar to 3 Indian metro cities.

India’s newest airport

Kushinagar International Airport is India’s newest airport that was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi just a few days ago. With this, the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, which has the highest population of any state in India, now has 9 operational airports. Recently, low cost carrier Indigo started flights to Bareilly which is the 8th airport in Uttar Pradesh.

Kushinagar International Airport will cater to the thousands of travellers who visit famous Buddhist sites in the surrounding cities. The town of Kushinagar is known as the final resting place of Buddha and attracts visitors from many Asian countries. Considering the broad opportunity for religious tourism in the city, the government has moved to make Kushinagar an international airport.

SpiceJet is the first airline to serve the airport

Indian low cost carrier SpiceJet, which is known to start flights to underserved airports, will become the first airline to serve Kushinagar International Airport when it starts flights on 26th November 2021.

The airline will start nonstop flights between Delhi and Kushinagar from 26th November 2021. Flights will operate 4-times-a-week. As of 17th December 2021, the carrier will operate 3-weekly flights between Kolkata and Kushinagar Starting 18th December 2021, SpiceJet will connect Mumbai with Kushinagar with 3-weekly flights. These flights will be operated under the Indian government’s UDAN scheme (Regional Connectivity Scheme).

The flight schedule of Mumbai-Kushinagar-Mumbai route is:

  • Mumbai-Kushinagar
  • Departure time: 12:10
  • Arrival time: 14:25
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 15 minutes
  • Flight number: SG131
  • Frequency: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
  • Kushinagar-Mumbai
  • Departure time: 15:00
  • Arrival time: 17:35
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 35 minutes
  • Flight number: SG132
  • Frequency: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

The flight schedule of Kolkata-Kushinagar-Kolkata route is:

  • Kolkata-Kushinagar
  • Departure time: 15:40
  • Arrival time: 17:15
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 35 minutes
  • Flight number: SG4039
  • Frequency: Mondays, Wednesdays and Frdiays

Flights to Delhi and Kolkata will be operated by Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 aircraft while flights to Mumbai will be operated by Boeing B737 aircraft.

Meanwhile, SpiceJet recently added Jodhpur to its network with nonstop flights from Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru.
