Air India has unveiled new amenity kits, cutlery, bedding and glassware for passengers travelling in long-haul flights. These all will first be available on Air India’s A350.
Amenity kits
Air India has partnered with Italian luxury brand Ferragamo for amenity kits for passengers flying in First and Business Class. Each First and Business class kit – encased in a bespoke presentation bag with unique motifs celebrating different printing styles of India – includes Ferragamo body lotion, hand cream, lip balm, comfortable socks, a plush eye mask, and a specially designed Air India keepsake. The First class kit additionally includes an Eau de Parfum. Air India is the world’s first airline to have amenity kits in Ferragamo’s new brand identity.

The A350 is a game-changer for AI. It will not only elevate our passenger experience but also open up new routes and opportunities for expansion. Together with the full interior refit of our legacy widebody aircraft commencing mid-2024, this upgradation of fleet and product is a key pillar of returning Air India to the upper echelons of world aviation.
said Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Air India.
Premium Economy Class passengers will get an amenity kit by TUMI. The kit design has been refreshed to incorporate the Air India Red colour in its design and includes skincare essentials by the renowned Swedish label, Verso. Economy class amenity kits – to be provided only on ultra-long-haul flights – include an eye mask, socks, and hand lotion, and are made using premium quality recyclable and reusable Kraft paper.
Bedding
Air India passengers travelling in First and Business Class will be provided specially made and designed bed linens, inspired by the airline’s new global brand identity. This includes plush bespoke duvets that are sustainable and lightweight, and mattress toppers crafted with premium multi-layer material, including a memory foam layer.
The First and Business class blankets are made of premium wool blend, bespoke to Air India in its new identity. The delicate jacquard border and the motif are inspired by the traditional Sozni embroidery of Jammu & Kashmir, a Union Territory of India. Air India will be the world’s only airline to offer wool-blended blankets in First and Business class.

Premium Economy and Economy guests will enjoy the comfort and warmth in a twill weave cabin blanket designed to reflect the new brand elements.

First and Business Class passengers will continue to get Air India’s refreshed loungewear by TUMI. Keeping style and sustainability as key considerations, Air India’s TUMI loungewear is made from recycled materials blended with cotton for extra softness and breathability. Passengers will also get plush velour slippers.

Cutlery and Glassware
The New Delhi-based airline has unveiled new cutlery and glassware for all classes of service.
The exquisite collection of chinaware blends lightweight and durable materials with subtle brand elements like intricate Mandala patterns and India-inspired designs for a luxurious and culturally rich dining experience. The uniquely India-inspired, tiffin box-shaped, salt-pepper cruet set in a gold finish is sure to get passengers’ attention.

First-class passengers will receive exclusive, copper-gold thalis for Indian meals. The airline says that “Business class guests will enjoy luxurious, lead-free glassware from Slovakia, which boasts infinite transparency, thanks to the use of a rare element of the highest quality erbium”. Exquisite stainless-steel cutlery, featuring weight-saving hollow handles, will further elevate passengers’ dining experience.

In Premium Economy, meals will be served in lightweight melamine material tableware, with etched Mandala patterns on side plates, bowls, and multipurpose glass.

The glassware features the iconic Maharaja, something which will be very special for fans of Air India. Economy Class passengers will get their meals on plates similar to that of Premium Economy meals, although a smaller one.

Modern & Elegant
These new passenger experience enhancements unveiled by Air India are modern and elegant. All of them have some Indian accents, something which I personally like very much as it helps Air India position itself very uniquely, in a good way.
It seems that a lot of thought has been put to have “India” on every little thing, from the salt & pepper shakers to the glassware. The final result is nothing short of extraordinary, at least compared to Air India’s current offering.
These passengers experience enhancements will roll out on medium and long-haul international flights, starting mid-2024 when Air India’s A350 enters international commercial operations. These will then make their way on all Air India’s international flights operated by Boeing B777s and Boeing B787 Dreamliners.
I personally have never flown Air India internationally. However, after seeing these soft product enhancements, I am now tempted to fly Air India’s A350 on the first chance I get.
