Emirates and TAP Air Portugal have announced that they are expanding their existing codeshare arrangement by including 23 more destinations.
As of 2nd November 2021, Emirates and TAP Air Portugal have more options to connect on to each other’s flights. They have added a total of 23 destinations to their codeshare agreement, bringing the total number of destinations where passengers can connect easily to over 90 destinations.
TAP Air Portugal will place its code on Emirates flights to 4 additional Asian destinations – 1 in Vietnam and 3 in Japan. These destinations are:
Emirates will place its code on TAP Air Portugal operated flights to 19 additional destinations via Lisbon. These are:
- Belem
- Brasilia
- Belo Horizonte
- Fortaleza
- Rio de Janeiro
- São Paulo
- Maceio
- Natal
- Porto Alegre
- Recife
- Salvador
- Praia
- Sal Island
- Sao Vicente
- Conakry
- Ponta Delgada
- Porto Santo
- Terceira
- Dakar

In March 2021, Emirates and TAP Air Portugal had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand the codeshare partnership currently in place between both airlines. It saw TAP Air Portugal placing its code on Emirates’ flights to the following East Asian destinations:
- Taipei
- Tokyo
- Osaka
- Mumbai
- Delhi
- Dhaka
- Male
- Jakarta
- Denpasar
- Manila
- Hanoi
- Barcelona
- Mexico City
On the other hand, passengers travelling on Emirates could easily connect to additional domestic destinations in Portugal, as well as TAP Air Portugal’s flights to cities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea-Conakry, Morocco, Tunisia, Gambia, and Cape Verde.
Emirates says that it, in partnership with TAP Air Portugal, are also exploring ways to enhance co-operation on their respective frequent flyer programmes, including reciprocal earning and redemption opportunities and popular benefits such as lounge access, and will be announcing the details sometime in the future.
Emirates currently has codeshare cooperation agreements in place with 21 airline partners and two rail companies around the world. Additionally, Emirates also has interline cooperation agreements with over 115 airlines and rail companies.
Meanwhile, Emirates recently announced that he will resume flights to Algiers, Algeria on 9th November 2021.
