KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced that it is expanding its network in Finland with the addition to Rovaniemi with winter seasonal flights from Amsterdam.
Starting 3rd December 2022 and running through 25th March 2023, KLM will operate a once-weekly flight between Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and Rovaniemi Airport with the following schedule:
- Amsterdam-Rovaniemi
- Departure time: 12:25
- Arrival time: 16:20
- Flight time: 2 hours and 55 minutes
- Flight number: KL1213
- Frequency: Every Saturday until 25th March 2023
- Rovaniemi-Amsterdam
- Departure time: 17:10
- Arrival time: 19:15
- Flight time: 3 hours and 05 minutes
- Flight number: KL1214
- Frequency: Every Saturday until 25th March 2023

These flights will be operated by Boeing B737-800 aircraft featuring 30 Business Class seats, 6 Economy Comfort seats and 150 standard Economy Class seats.
KLM says that this flight will help with “the growing demand for adventurous winter trips to Lapland”.
Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland and gateway to winter leisure travel. Rovaniemi is the last major city as one travels north into the remote and sprawling wilderness of Lapland, which one can explore on snow scooters or by husky safari. There’s also plenty to do in Rovaniemi itself, which offers a wide array of shops as well as cosy cafes and restaurants. Travellers can also visit the home of Santa Claus, who lives in Santa Park.
KLM will have a monopoly in the Amsterdam-Rovaniemi market. Rovaniemi generally sees winter seasonal services from European airlines as the demand for travel to this Finnish city increases in winter season.
This winter, Air France will also operate flights to Rovaniemi Airport from Paris’ Charles de-Gaulle Airport from 27th November 2022 to 19th March 2023. The flights will operate 3-flights-a-week. From 18th December 2022 to 2nd January 2023, the flight will operate daily.
