We have waited for this day for a long time, and we feel it is going to be very important for the economies of Uganda and India. There is a lot we can bring in terms of our resources and goods to India. As an airline, this is a big achievement because one of our aims is to connect Uganda to different parts of the world, especially as a landlocked country.

said Priscilla Mirembe, Board Chairperson, Uganda Airlines.

With this launch, Uganda Airlines now serves two medium-haul/long-haul destinations – Dubai and Mumbai. The airline has also expressed interest in starting flights either to Delhi or Chennai in the future. According to news portal Moneycontrol, the airline’s country manager expects the services to start in the next three months.

Currently, there are more than 45,000 Indians in Uganda while thousands of people from Uganda travel to India for different purposes. India is a very big market for Uganda Airlines and it is nice to see the airline capitalise on that.

Uganda Airlines is the fourth East African airline to have scheduled flights to Mumbai after Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and Sir Tanzania.
