Fiji Airways, which will soon be the 15th full member of oneworld airline alliance, has applied for permission to the United States’ Department of Transportation (DoT) for starting nonstop flights to Dallas.
Fiji Airways to Dallas
Fiji Airways has announced that it is eyeing nonstop flights between Nadi International Airport and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The airline plans to operate three-flights-a-week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays using Airbus A350-900s, for which it has already applied to DoT requesting permission.
Fiji Airways’ A350 features 33 lie-flat Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration and 301 standard Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.
Once approved, Dallas will be the carrier’s fourth destination in the United States, alongside Los Angeles, San Francisco and Honolulu and fifth in North America as it also serves Vancouver in Canada. Fiji Airways currently operates four A350-900s, four A330s and six B737s.

Fiji Airways is based at Nadi International Airport, which is Fiji’s main airport. It currently serves 26 destinations in 15 countries. In late 2018, the airline joined oneworld alliance as a oneworld connect partner, and will now transition to full member status within the next 12 months.
Dallas is the home base for American Airlines, which happens to be one of the biggest airlines in the oneworld alliance. American is sponsoring Fiji Airways’ admission into the oneworld alliance, and Fiji Airways will soon adopt American Airlines’ AAdvantage frequent flyer programme as its own. It seems obvious that Fiji Airways is launching flights to Dallas as it will enable better cooperation within the alliance and serve one of the biggest oneworld hubs.
