ITC Hotels has announced the completion of full refurbishment of WelcomHotel by ITC Hotels Cathedral Road Chennai. The hotel is now accepting reservations as of 18th January 2024. Let’s take a look at this newly refurbished hotel.
Location, design and accommodations
WelcomHotel by ITC Hotels Cathedral Road Chennai is the flagship WelcomHotel. It has just completed a grand refurbishment and is now ready to welcome guests as of 18th January 2024.
The property is located about 15 kilometres from the international airport, five kilometres from the railway station, and a short 15-minutes’ drive to T. Nagar and Anna Salai – one of the most popular shopping and commercial areas.
The hotel is back in an awe-inspiring embodiment of contemporary design and chic facilities, and reflective of the Southern Indian magnificence. The hotel’s new interiors draw inspiration from the vibrant Chennai temples and the traditional Sikku Kolam designs.
The hotel features 90 well-appointed guest rooms and suites that come with a touch of nobility and old-world charm. Every room comes with a touch of Chennai’s famous architecture on the walls. The base rooms start at 26 square meters while the largest Executive Suite is spread over an area of 70 square meters.

Dining and facilities
WelcomCafe Marina is the hotel’s all day dining restaurant offering local, Indian and global cuisine options for all meals, along with an extensive A La Carte menu. Mahjong Room celebrates the culinary richness of Sichuan, Hunan and Cantonese kitchens while Sunbean Café serves sweet and savoury gourmet bakery delights, along with a variety of delectable beverages.
Durrants Bar pays tribute to Charles Durrant, the first wine merchant in the Madras Presidency. Reminiscent of an English Club, it offers a collection of spirits and premium beverages. Fabelle – The Chocolate Boutique serves handcrafted chocolate creations.
Facilities include a fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool and K by Kaya Kalp Spa. The hotel also features large convection space, capable of accommodating up to 375 guests.
