IndiGo to add Jharsuguda to its network as 84th domestic destination

IndiGo has announced the addition of Jharsuguda in the state of Odisha to its network. The city, also known as the “Powerhouse of Odisha”, will be the 84th domestic destination and 116th overall in the airline’s network.

Starting 5th November 2023, IndiGo will operate a daily service between Kolkata and Jharsuguda with the following schedule:

  • Kolkata-Jharsuguda
  • Departure time: 17:50
  • Arrival time: 19:25
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 35 minutes
  • Flight number: 6E7087

  • Jharsuguda-Kolkata
  • Departure time: 19:55
  • Arrival time: 21:20
  • Flight time: 1 hour and 25 minutes
  • Flight number: 6E7088

As of 15th November 2023, the airline will also operate a daily service between Bengaluru and Jharsuguda with the following timings:

  • Bengaluru-Jharsuguda
  • Departure time: 10:15
  • Arrival time: 12:20
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 05 minutes
  • Flight number: 6E125

  • Jharsuguda-Bengaluru
  • Departure time: 12:50
  • Arrival time: 14:55
  • Flight time: 2 hours and 05 minutes
  • Flight number: 6E128

Flights from Kolkata will be operated by ATR72-600 aircraft while those from Bengaluru will be operated by Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Jharsuguda is a city located in the western part of Odisha. It is an emerging industrial hub, particularly in the metal and cement sectors. It has a thriving industry, mostly centered around thermal power plants and mining. Jharsuguda has often been referred to as “Little India” due to its diverse demography, languages, and cultures. The culture of Jharsuguda is influenced by the various communities residing in the city. The city also boasts a rich tradition of folk music and dance.

Jharsuguda offers several tourist attractions, including waterfalls, temples, wildlife sanctuaries, and natural parks in the surrounding region. While it may not be a typical tourist destination, it has its own charm for those interested in nature and cultural exploration. Places like Koilighughar waterfall, Ram Chandi Temple, Jhadeswar Temple, Pikolgughar Stream, Guja Pahad, Ulapgarh Hill forts, Babadera cave, etc., are some of the notable tourist attractions.

Meanwhile, IndiGo recently announced that it will launch flights to the coastal town of Diu in Gujarat.
