Scandinavian Airlines to offer flights to Atlanta

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has announced the addition of Atlanta to its network, with flights launching in mid-2024.

Starting 17th June 2024, SAS will operate a daily service between Copenhagen and Atlanta with the following schedule:

  • Copenhagen-Atlanta
  • Departure time: 13:10
  • Arrival time: 19:00
  • Flight time: 11 hours and 50 minutes
  • Flight number: SK929

  • Atlanta-Copenhagen
  • Departure time: 17:10
  • Arrival time: 10:20 (the next day)
  • Flight time: 11 hours and 10 minutes
  • Flight number: SK930

These flights will be operated by SASโ€™ Airbus A330-300 aircraft featuring 32 lie-flat Business Class seats, 56 SAS Plus seats with additional legroom and 174 standard Economy Class seats.

In the 2024 winter schedule, the airline will continue to operate Atlanta flights, although with a reduced schedule. Flights will operate 5-times-a-week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with Airbus A350 aircraft.

Through an agreement with Delta Air Lines, passengers can continue their journey on other Delta-served destinations out of Atlanta. This development means an expanded offering for SAS passengers, who can look forward to reaching several new and exciting destinations across the Southern USA, Caribbean, and Latin America, all conveniently accessible from Atlanta.

With almost 94 million passengers passing through in 2022, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the worldโ€™s busiest. SAS says that cargo transportation is expected to play an important role for this route, partly because of its proximity to the Port of Savannah, the largest and fastest-growing container terminal in America.

Expansion in U.S.

In addition to introducing flights to Atlanta, SAS is increasing flights to other U.S. destinations this summer. The Copenhagen-New York (JFK) route will have up to two daily flights, complementing the existing daily flights to New York-Newark Airport from Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen. Copenhagen to Boston flights will operate daily, up from six times a week during summertime. In addition, a fourth weekly flight will be added from Copenhagen to Toronto.

In the upcoming summer schedule which begins from 31st March 2024, SAS will operate flights to the following North American destinations:

  • Atlanta
  • New York JFK
  • Newark
  • Chicago
  • Boston
  • Washington D.C.
  • Los Angeles
  • San Francisco
  • Miami (until 7th April 2024)
  • Toronto
