Emirates has announced that it will soon start deploying upgraded Boeing B777s on Zurich and Riyadh flights.
To Zurich and Riyadh
Emirates is currently in the process of refurbishing its B777 and A380 fleet. While the process for A380s started quite some time ago, the B777s are getting a makeover since 1st July 2024. The first destination to receive the upgraded B777s was Geneva (GVA). Now, the airline has announced that as of 22nd September 2024, Geneva will become the first city in the Emirates network to offer Premium Economy seats and newly refreshed Business Class cabins on all flights, with the introduction of the retrofitted B777 on EK89 and EK90 flights.
From 9th October 2024, the Dubai-based airline will operate its second retrofitted B777 to Brussels (BRU) on flights EK181 and EK182 six times weekly. To Zurich (ZRH), the UAE carrier will operate its retrofitted Boeing B777 on flights EK85 and EK86 starting from 1st October 2024.

From the same day, the airline will deploy its retrofitted B777s on flights EK819 and EK820 to Riyadh (RUH). This will also mark the debut of Emirates’ Premium Economy in the Middle East/GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council).
Emirates says that with “an expanded list of cities served by both the refurbished Boeing 777 and A380 aircraft”, it “is providing customers more choice and a better experience in the skies across every cabin class”. The carrier plans to serve 28 cities with Premium Economy by the end of this year. So far, 25 aircraft have been retrofitted, with 17 more aircraft to undergo a facelift by December 2024.
The upgraded four-class Boeing B777 is configured with six or eight First Class suites, 38 Business class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, 24 seats in Premium Economy in a 2-4-2 layout, and 256 Economy class seats in a 3-4-3 layout.
