The world’s largest religious gathering, MahaKumbh, happening in Prayagraj right now has had airlines schedule flights to the city on a temporary basis. While almost every airline has already added flights, Air India hadn’t, until now. The airline has announced that it will operate Delhi-Prayagraj flights.
Delhi-Prayagraj flights
Starting 25th January 2025 until 28th February 2025, Air India will operate a daily service between Delhi (DEL) and Prayagraj (IXD). The schedule is split into two as follows:
From 25th to 31st January 2025:
- Delhi-Prayagraj
- Departure time: 14:10
- Arrival time: 15:20
- Flight time: 1 hour and 10 minutes
- Flight number: AI2843
- Frequency: Daily
- Prayagraj-Delhi
- Departure time: 16:00
- Arrival time: 17:10
- Flight time: 1 hour and 10 minutes
- Flight number: AI2844
- Frequency: Daily

From 1st to 28th February 2025:
- Delhi-Prayagraj
- Departure time: 13:00
- Arrival time: 14:10
- Flight time: 1 hour and 10 minutes
- Flight number: AI843
- Frequency: Daily
- Prayagraj-Delhi
- Departure time: 14:50
- Arrival time: 16:00
- Flight time: 1 hour and 10 minutes
- Flight number: AI844
- Frequency: Daily
Flights AI2843/2844 will be operated by ex-Vistara aircraft featuring Business, Premium Economy and Economy classes while flights AI843/844 will be operated by Air India aircraft featuring Business and Economy classes of service.
Air India will compete with IndiGo, Akasa Air and SpiceJet on this route. The airline says that with convenient daytime departures in both directions, the flights will enable easy connections via Delhi to passengers travelling to/from various parts of India as well as North America, Europe, Australia and several countries in Southeast Asia.
