Japan Airlines will offer COVID-19 insurance to passengers

Japan airlines will offer COVID-19 insurance for passengers on international flights.

With this announcement, Japan airlines becomes the 1st airline to offer complimentary COVID-19 insurance. The complimentary insurance will be offered on Japan Airlines operated and marketed flights between 23rd December,2020 and 30th June,2021.

If you board a flight on 30th June that runs through 1st July, you are covered. The insurance will provide medical fees up to $182000 approximately if you test positive. Also included is a coverage up to $121 per eligible person per day for a maximum of 14 days should that person need to isolate or quarantine. If a doctor says that you need to go home, the Japanese carrier will cover up to $1820 in repatriation costs.

The insurance will be valid for 31 days from the 1st leg of Japan Airlines’ international flight taken or until you return to your country of residence, whichever comes first. The insurance is automatic and no advance application is needed.

Hideo Ninomiya, Managing Executive Officer of Passenger Sales, Japan Airlines said : “While it may take time to welcome back customers on a global scale, we hope this coverage with Allianz Travel will provide reassurance to those that need to travel today,”
